Jimbaran Bay is a southern area of Bali located just south of the airport and main island of Kuta. Home to a wealth of five star beach resorts and a few more modest hotels, Jimbaran Bay offers little in the way of budget accommodation. Nicknamed the 'Beverly Hills of Bali' and 'Millionaires Row', a holiday in Jimbaran Bay is a holiday in style!
The white sandy beaches are some of the best in Bali and the calm waters make a dip in the ocean both relaxing and safe. The trio of grilled seafood restaurants scattered across the beach make an excellent venue to view what has been described as some of the most stunning sunsets in the world. Arrive around 5pm to stock up on food and drink before settling back to witness the truly divine sunset, often described as a spiritual experience that genuinely touches the soul.
The traditional Jimbaran fish markets stand at the northern end of the bay where every morning you can spot the day's catch come in before being devoured by some of their most devoted customers - the fine dining restaurateurs of Bali. If shopping is what your heart desires then there are a number of lovely boutiques and antique shops to explore and if you're looking for fresh produce the Jimbaran market is a hive of activity.
Jimbaran Bay also offers some great natural attractions and surfing is a big drawcard. The best surf breaks occur off the airport and whilst this is too far to paddle, boats are both cheap and easy to charter from the beach in middle areas of the bay or close to the fish market.
If you would rather relax and just take it easy, there are a number of high-end spas to help melt away your stress. Because of the sophisticated clientele that frequent Jimbaran Bay, most of the luxury hotels have spas available on the premises however there are also a number of independent establishments that offer relaxing massages and treatments.
Getting around Jimbaran Bay is relatively simple and a lot easier that some of the more crowded areas of Bali. Taxis are everywhere so getting around is a breeze, with options to pre-purchase taxi's for pick up and drop off to and from the airport. There are sporadic bus services from Tegal in Denpasar to Kuta and on to Nusa Dua however a more reliable mode of transport are the many motorbikes for hire. These are a popular choice for visitors however they are not essential as Jimbaran Bay is one of the better areas of south Bali for walking.
